KEANE

Tom’s Best of 2013 06 January 2014

1. Favourite album of 2013?
Kanye West, Yeezus.

2. Favourite single?
Not sure it’s a formal single, but "Blush" by Wolf Alice

3. Best gig you saw?
Well Glastonbury was as phenomenal as ever. A band called Telemann – first thing I saw on Friday and thought they were fantastic.

4. Best gig you played?
The Myth in Minneapolis in January, Cap Roig in Spain in August, Northside Festival in Denmark. Impossible to pick a clear winner.

5. Best film you saw?

Hands down, Zero Dark Thirty.

6. Best trip you made?
I went to Australia to see the Ashes. It was so depressing as an England fan that I decided to go exploring in the Bush. The Flinders Ranges in South Australia – simply stunning.

7. Best TV show you watched?
Homeland Season 3 was epic. As was the end of Breaking Bad. The US version of The Office is wonderful.

8. Best book you read?
The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out of a Window and Disappeared, by Jonas Jonasson. Also loved The Crow Road by Iain Banks, who sadly died this year.

9. Best meal you ate?

My wife and I cooked a big Christmas roast for the family – it made me realise what a saint my Mum has been all these years. It’s not easy to get it all hot and on the table at the same time!

10. Best thing you bought yourself?
A proper coffee machine. Like, a proper one…

11. Best thing someone else bought for you?
Socks. There’s nothing like a pair of brand new socks. I’m easy to please.

12. Best website you visited or app/podcast you downloaded?
I’ve started to use Twitter. I’m being sucked in…I said I never would. But I have!

13. Best thing that happened in 2013 for Keane?
10 years of making music celebrated with gigs and a best of.

14. Best thing that happened in 2013 for you?
My Dad was awarded an OBE for services to charity in Rwanda, He’s a legend and he thoroughly serves it.

15. Finally, what are you looking forward to in 2014?
Becoming a father. Making my solo record. It doesn’t get any better than that!
