Bidding open for Tom’s “destroyed” Rankin print 18 November 2009

For the 10th Anniversary of UK charity Youth Music, musicians photographed by Rankin were asked to create an original piece of artwork based on one of his iconic portraits of them. Tom is one the acts who "destroyed" a print, completely transforming it as shown above.

Says Tom of his creation, "I’m a very nervous subject when being photographed or interviewed… defensive. I wanted to make the reworked image bold, colourful and abstract. I love artists like Kandinsky, so I looked for inspiration there. It’s great to be able to take a photograph and stamp your own authority on it as a subject.”

You can bid for Tom’s print on eBay until 21st November, by clicking here. The proceeds will all go towards Youth Music’s work transforming the lives of children and young people through music.

All of the customised prints are on display at the Phillips De Pury at Albemarle St, London until 21st November (free entry).
