Track name: Playing Along

Date: 13 October 2008

Lyrics

At the start of the news day
The fires begin
In words and in pictures
But I’m not listening
I’m not taking it in

I’m going to go to the country
Where nothing goes on
Going to bury my head
Where I can’t hear the sound of bombs
Playing along

Me, I’m just playing along
You and I, so many good people
All just playing along

I’m going to go to a bar
Where the jukebox is on
Going to shut out the noise
With a rock 'n' roll song
Playing along

I’m going to turn up the volume
I’m going to turn up the volume
I’m going to turn up the volume
Till I can’t even think

Tell us a tale of the proud and the free
Sing us a swing time American melody
From Follow The Fleet

Me, I’m just playing along
You and I, a billion people
All just playing along

I’m going to turn up the volume
I’m going to turn up the volume
I’m going to turn up the volume
Till I can’t even think

When I got the album I started listening and following the rhythm and the lyrics... when "Playing Along" started, I started to cry... I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY! but now is which I consider to be the best song in the Album :)

I the beginning I can't accept this song. I don't really like this. But then I keep listening to Playing Along and now...maybe it will go up to my Top Five Chart! Somebody plays guitar inside? This song is so beautiful, actually. And in the I'm Gonna Turn Up The Volume part, I guess KEANE are impressionistic!

Cette chanson est celle qui me touche le moins musicalement. D'ailleurs, je l'ai classée en dernier sur mon lecteur mp3. Mais, ça pourrait changer.

Best song on the album, but could be a little more HardRock... It would be fun!

The best song on the albumby far. Lulls you into a lovely melody only to kick in with menace. A new musical direction and a triumph

This song has got to be about what is going on politically...am I right?

OMG, the thrills at the magnificent end !!!... Something whose I glimpsed the greatness, thanks to a polar bear.

Playing Along is probably my favorite track on the album. The music in the beginning is very eerie, turns sweet and smooth, and ends with angst. I feel every lyric and every beat as a watch my country(US) crumble. I like that you guys are feeling it too and atleast I'm not alone in this.

This song is so sad but true. There have been many times I've wanted to turn up the volume til I could not hear a sound let alone think. With the state of our economy and everything else, who would want to?

I really felt this when Katrina hit New Orleans although I wasn't able to "turn up the volume". I was obsessed with 'knowing' as my heart sunk with sadness and my twisted stomach ached. Not being in a financial or geographical place to help those poor people I waited for the government to step in and help but it was too late....too late to save everyone...too late to be proud....maybe they turned up the volume. This is a very sad song but it's true and if we don't recognize it then we will never change it.

Well, this song I don´t like it too much, because it´s so sad. But, today it was in my head and I had to listen again. "I´m going to turn up the volume, till I can´t even think" and with the song from The Verve I say: Love is noise, love is pain, love is these blues that I´m singing again, again
