9 - NEON RIVER LEER ESTO EN ESPAÑOL
When I was moving house back down to Sussex a couple of years ago, there was a huge metal container in the garden with all my music gear in. I was unpacking boxes one day when I had the idea for a song, so I had to go and stand in this cold dark container, fight my way to the piano which was buried under boxes and rugs and so on, and try to sketch out this idea. I like the line about the bowling alley walls. When we were struggling to get anywhere as a band back in 2002-2003 we would meet up every day to rehearse songs, and when we got bored we would go down to the bowling alley outside Bexhill. We got quite good. We had bowling names for each other too. I think mine was Terry.
When I was a teenager I went out with a girl who seemed to have so much confidence and had all these plans and dreams about seeing the world and doing lots of great stuff. Deep down I always felt too scared to go anywhere or do anything, a source of much shame to me. So I felt somewhat left behind. I think I'm still haunted by that feeling even now. But I've always loved being by the Thames, and seeing the lights of the City of London and the South Bank reflected in the water.

9 - NEON RIVER READ IN ENGLISH

From Hopes And Fears, my favourite song is This Is The Last Time and also On A Day Like Today. From Under The Iron Sea: Try Again. From Perfect Symmetry: Black Burning Heart and from Night Train: My Shadow… But I listen to some songs more than a hundred times. From Strangeland it's both On The Road and Neon River but I love the other ones too from the album… I wonder if I still love the Hopes And Fears album Keane made. I just think they've got the sound from Hopes And Fears and Perfect Symmetry. I've just been thinking this way… Hopes And Fears + Perfect Symmetry = Strangeland.
From Hopes and Fears, my favorite song is On a day like today; from Under the iron sea, my favorite song is Nothing in my way; from Perfect Symmetry, my favorite song is Black Burning Heart; From The Night Train, my favorite song is My shadow and, from Strangeland, my favorite song is Neon River. I knew I would find a song I could play in infinite loop again. =)
i love this song. Feels good.
Tim, I can totally identify with this song. I've always felt my shyness has held me back from achieving my dreams and ambitions. I seem to be surrounded by confident people. Thanks for sharing the story behind this fantastic song. I bet that girl has regrets now! ;-) Lots of love, Annette H xxx

TIM, if you weren't so honest and open with your life and feelings, Keane wouldn't be half the band it is. You're the best!
So far this is my favorite song from Strangeland. It runs through my head all day and I'm sure my family wish I would stop singing 'save your money, pack your bags' every few minutes.
Oh, Tim, you must write a book someday...your stories are superb...and even moreso because they are true! ....I can relate to the colored lights on the river...I live along the channel and Lake Michigan, and we have the "neon lights" on the water, too...You know, isn't it funny how you had to come back home to find yourself? And look at all the marvelous things you've done for the entire world just from your little corner of it. Congrats on Strangeland, Mr. Rice-Oxley. Well done!
HERMOSA LA CANCIÓN. SOS MUY DULCE TIM Y TÍMIDO, PERO YA VES QUE ESTÁS RECORRIENDO EL MUNDO CON TUS CANCIONES CON MUCHO EXITO, POR LO TANTO YA ESTÁ SUPERADO. TE FELICITO Y LOS ESPERAMOS MUY PRONTO POR ARGENTINA. BESOS A KEANE DESDE BS.AS. ARGENTINA.
THX Tim
You like a teacher.Whenever you wear glasses The new album is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you (Why Jesse don't sing ? I also like Jesse voice! You know! he was great! )
Amazing. Every single song on Strangeland just gets better and better than when I first listened to it. That doesn't happen that often. Beautiful song, Tim!
I love you, Timmy! :D this song is beautiful !
One of my favorites songs! It is so nice to know about how they appear in your mind , suddlenly. And you're to kind to share it with us. I think that everybody has his fears, much more when you , me or anyone is young enough to know what we want for our life, It's a challenge to discovered. That's life ! congrats for the Nº 1 See you soon .I will follow you around the world.xx
I loved this song the first time I heard it. I bet the girl who left you behind is kicking herself now!!
Hola, Tim.
Dearest Tim, luckily you overcame your shy and shared your dreams with us. Your dream became our dream too.
Mr.Km.com, is that correct...he comment is about Neon River and the track is Black Rain? Beijos, Regina.
Dear Tim Congratulations on following your dreams even if in fear, so learn to go far to where you are this day ... life because it taught you the way that fear and hope can achieve the impossible. when I met keane in 2006 learned that life can be as simple or as complicated as you want. with Keane learned that life has fears and hopes that one must approach them the same just to keep going without anything to stop us. Congratulations on the accomplishments they have achieved during these 8 years is not the Nonstop Strangeland! Greetings with love from Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico. Hope to see you live soon.
Tim, all the songs of Strangeland album are really good. I'm sure they all have their magic story, based on your comments of each track. Beijos, Regina.
Great song! All of them, btw!
I've loved it from the moment I heard the album preview.
This song is so upbeat- Classic Keane!! :D
