Hello again. We reach the halfway stage of our H&F video contest winners rundown with Can't Stop Now. This was another song judged by Richard. Don't forget, we'll be announcing the overall contest winner once we've announced all of the invidual song winners. (The individual winners each get a signed copy of the Hopes And Fears Deluxe Edition.)

Richard: The idea to do this in the computer game is really great - a really fresh and modern twist on animation, but with a storyline there too. Five years ago this video would have cost a fortune to make! There are so many details, like the keane drum head on the drum kit (trust me to notice that!) you've also got a fair few of Tom's moves down. I'm really impressed by the way you made the creative side work with the Sims idea. Fantastic.

Richard: This was one of the first videos I watched, and it set a really high standard. It's really professional - the shots, the editing, the movement… my favourite moment is when the camera swings with the actor's hand. Really enjoyed it.

Richard: This is a great-looking video - really nicely shot. I love the almost day-for-night effect, and the different angles to keep it fresh, cut with the shots of the guy's eyes. Tom will confirm that videos where you run and run are hard work, so props to your lead actor! feels like the guy is trying to escape from everything, but i guess he works it out at the end. I felt really bad for the guy with the coffee - good cameos!

Richard: This really had me laughing - it is time we did a video with a dance routine, and the costumes remind me of making the album… how many takes did you use? my fave move is "slow down", plus the impression of Tim's piano playing - we do the same thing!

Despite the greatness of all the videos, I was almost sure from the beginning that either of Karla's or Pedro's videos was going to be chosen for the first place. Richard, I concur about this special effect of the light in Ryan's vid... The half-light is very stylish, the lead actor is perfect and the whole is shot in magnificent surroundings... Actually, it reminds a Hitchcock film... Very neat !!... By the way, there's a cat who looks like Archie, below... Cute☺!

Using The Sims for animation has been done before. Still I marvel at the fact that you can make your own animation at home thanks to a computer game. As Richard said it would have cost a fortune five years ago. And of course thousands of people have seized the opportunnity so that it's sitll going to be done.

Its not that I don't understand how much work and effort went into the Sims video, its that its been done before. If you go on Youtube and look for Sims videos put to Keane music, there are SO many.
@Lola84 : I can understand your point of view. Moreover Pedro did a great work. You say "it's ILLEGAL to use a COPYRIGHTED Animation!!! SIMS is a registered trademark!!!" concerning Karla's video. Out of the context, what you say is totally true. Copyright infringement is forbidden by law and can lead to legal prosecution. But there's something I don't understand : why do you qualify this video work as illegal ? What is illegal is to use parts of the animation package already inside the Sims game when you've just bought it and haven't played it yet, e.g. the animation when you launch the game on your computer. These are creations of the authors of the Sims and thus the intellectual property of them, are copyrighted and protected from infringement by law. You totally have the right not to like this video (fortunately liking Keane doesn't mean liking everything they do !!) but I think it's not right making such accusations.

I don't know. I really do like and appreciate the amount of work that was put into the Sims video, I just feel like its been done before (no disrespect meant to the winner at all).

I don't mind that I lost, I have no problem paying for a CD to support my favorite group; however, I feel that this contest has turned out to be a farce.
I addmit, I had feelings of being "down in the dumps" with symptoms such as loss of interest, of pleasure, of attachement to external objects.... yes, depression. There are some effective treatments, f.e. medicine, "talk therapy" or by old medical books -laxatives , clyster or hunger strike.... No, it doesn´t work for me. I discovered books of B.Berger and I decided also/like her/ to let everything be as it is and don´t compare this moment, this something to something else. Without comparisons everything is perfectly OK as it is. There is only this moment - this- exactly as it is, happenning now. Right now, I am just sitting in front of my computer and I am watching all amazing videos without judging or forming any opinions... "Life is right before me, plain and simple". It is so liberating and peaceful.! I missed you very much, and I am grateful to travelling with all of you... May the Angels watch over and guide you each and every day!...

Well... everybody is entitled to have their own opinion. You don't like my video fine, but don't say it isn't original and that it lacks creativity, because I worked as hard as any other contestant to make a quality video for my favorite band. Yes I used a videogame platform, it is a mean to an end, as other great videos show material use on them (the shoes and the paint, the lego toys, the stuffed animals, the programs used to make other animated videos, etc) Why would it be different? If I created the characters, I made the sets, I recorded the shots, I CREATED the story, and I edited the video too and I'm pretty sure I give The Sims franchaise the deserved credit. Besides, The Sims encourages their fans to make videos using its games, and since this is not a profitable contest, I don't see why my video "doesn't derserve" to be the winner. But again, everybody is entitled to have an opinion, right Richard? @ Mihajasoa: Tu est très gentille, merci pour le soutien :)

I don't think she DESERVE to be the winner for this song because is NOT original and it's ILLEGAL to use a COPYRIGHTED Animation!!! SIMS is a registered trademark!!! That's the idea again and again. I personally can hardly imagine this video being made without creativity of some kind; there's a storyline, so many details, like the drum head on the drum kit (I didn't notice that). But that's the only time I've been able to see them live.

She deserved it, didn't she ? Yes, I guess it's not easy to do and so I think it's well-deserved !... Richard, you're more true than life... Hihi ! By the way, "Slow Down" is among other things a cover by THE BEATLES and you're right about ♥KEANE♥ on the drums because OASIS couldn't suit, for instance ! ... I also like some little details true to life as when the girl nervously wrings her hands or when she's before the mirror... The third vid really is aesthetically pleasing and another little detail at end : did you see how it's tough and unsafe being an ant !... Charlotte & Anna + the feet = a brainwave !... Personaly, I'm horrified about torture in the sand (the poor boy has eaten some sand in order to entertain us, shame !) but I'm totally blown away by the painting of these sneakers... Brilliant artwork and I hope she made a pair for you... That's terrific !... I too think it was a brilliant idea to combine this song with time that flies...Inexorably ! Lots of guts to share some personal souvenirs and from start to end, it's lovely to see the mum and son side by side !... There are yet lovely stuffed toys and yet only Tom/Rich/Tom/Rich but the vids are better and better every day... Thanks☺!
